PAINT REPORTED ON STATUE ON GROUNDS OF STATEHOUSE

COLUMBIA –  The South Carolina Department of Public Safety reports that:

BPS officers were conducting a property check between 10 and 10:30 a.m. on June 30, 2015. They found what appeared to be a red paint ball on the Ben Tillman statue, located at the Northwest side of the Statehouse. The officer says there were a couple of streams of red paint that had run down a portion of the monument and paint splatter on the pedestal.

BPS reported it to General Services. They are cleaning the statue. There were no arrests and no further information at this time.
