SCDPS REPORTS 16 KILLED ON SOUTH CAROLINA ROADS
OCTOBER 9 – OCTOBER 11, 2015

COLUMBIA – The South Carolina Department of Public Safety announces a preliminary number of 16 persons killed on South Carolina roadways from Friday, October 9, at 6 p.m. until Sunday, October 11, at midnight.

As of October 11, 717 people have died on South Carolina highways, compared to 625 highway deaths during the same time period in 2014.


Of the 475 motor vehicle occupants who have died in 2015, 242 were not wearing seat belts. 


Through midnight October 11, 82 pedestrians have died compared to 75 in 2014; 107 motorcyclists have died compared to 78 in 2014; and 13 bicyclists have died compared to 12 in 2014 on state roads and highways.
