SCDPS REPORTS THREE KILLED ON SOUTH CAROLINA ROADS

JULY 7 – JULY 9, 2017

COLUMBIA – The South Carolina Department of Public Safety announces a preliminary number of three persons killed on South Carolina roadways from Friday, July 7, at 6 p.m. until Sunday, July 9, at midnight.

As of July 9, 2017, 506 people have died on South Carolina highways, compared to 516 highway deaths during the same time period in 2016.

 

Of the 365 motor vehicle occupants who have died in 2017, 171 were not wearing safety belts. 

 

Through midnight July 9, 68 pedestrians died compared to 70 in 2016; 50 motorcyclists died compared to 71 in 2016; and nine bicyclists died compared to 13 in 2016 on state roads and highways.
